What can I use in the place of cumin to make chili?

You can omit it. I don't like the taste of it and never put it in my chili.Source(s): Cooking for 59 years.

Maybe paprika, it has a warm vibe like cumin, or you could try powdered coriander.

You can just leave it out. I honestIy don't think cumin makes that much of a difference. Chili powder, taco seasoning, coriander, caraway, curry powder, etc will do it. You can even add a little bit of cinnamon or nutmeg in its place. There's really no close replacement for cumin though... coriander is the closest.
