Was 1 GB once considered a very big volume of capicity at 1995~1999?

    For RAM, yes. I think my first pc in that time frame (1995) came with 16MB of RAM. The hard drive was bigger though, it came with a 1GB drive, with 2-3GB being available in 1997. If I really want to date myself, my first drive was an audio cassette back in the late 70's before people knew what to do with computers since there was no internet. Later that year, we got our first 5 1/4" floppy drive.

    when i bought my first USB Flash Drive, it was 1GB, and cost $100 on sale.

    this was in 2002.

    The first 2GB drives came out in 1994, so 1GB was not particularly big by 1999 - capacity had passed 16GB by then.
