I don't know how to smile anymore?

I wore braces for eight years. I didn't smile in those eight years because I was so devastated and embarrassed that I had braces as a teen/young adult. Now, I've had them off for a year and a half and I still don't know how to smile. My old smile that I use to have is gone, and now this smile I have now looks unauthentic and unattractive. Is there exercises I can do to get my smile back. Will it come back over time?

Try watching You Tube videos of babies with kittens.  The smile will return.

Five years, but I don't recall ever being embarrassed about smiling.

However, at 31yo I had liver failure that led to hepatic encephalopathy which led to polyneuropathy and brain damage (blindness included).

This damage erased any memory of how to emote at all, but over the last 7 years, my ability to smile has returned almost to how it was.

So yes, it comes back, but practice will hasten its return.
