I think we're in a rut. Since about 2000 there has been little significiant change. The 2020's will be more of the same. Maybe late 2020's AI will had picked up momentum, taken over thousands of jobs, then new industries will pop up. Self driving cars will probably gain popularity at the end of the 2020's
