"the sum of 4 and 6" is 10.

So the result would be n-10.

    The number n decreased by...

    n - ...

    ... the sum of 4 and 6:

    n - (4 + 6)

Note: that could be simplified, if that's what you're expected to do.

    n - 10

    Answer:

    n - (4 + 6)
