Can I safely move the clock hands on my new quartz school house clock?
It is a non-mechanical battery operated quartz, Westminster chime 4/4 clock I just bought.
This is a schoolhouse clock and I have opened the face as you see in this photograph.
If I attempt to move the dial forward or backwards I will or will not strip the gears?

Take it off of the wall and look at the back. There will be either an adjusting twiddler sticking out or a thing that you put your thumb on and twist (less likely on a larger clock like this).
Do not push the hands around from the front.

There's an adjustment dial in the back with an indication which way to move it. Use it.
