2009 Corolla S key wont come out. When battery dies I can easily take the key out. Is this a stupid anti-theft feature I can disable?

Lock solenoid in key barrel is broken or not getting power from shifter when the car is in Park.

Even though it seems like the car realizes its in park, the mechanism that allows the driver to place the car into park is likely damaged or dirty.

Try turning the steering wheel to the left then right when you remove the key.

    • Yeah, no.  Tried that and a host of other basic **** like disarming the alarm with the key out after jump
      starting it.
