Was the Toyota sudden unintended acceleration recall overblown?

    No. It was a vital safety matter. 

    If a car can suddenly accelerate without driver input then that’s got the possibility of killing people.

    If Toyota hadn’t issued a recall as soon as they became aware of the problem it would also have left them open to massive litigation damages.

    Yes it was. All the stories were flawed. However, Toyota studied and revised the pedals that *might* have gotten stuck, then replaced them all by recall. Even some owners of other makes, such as Chevy, complained of the same and those were not taken as so sensational.
