Is Tennessee a red, blue or purple state?

I know Nashville and Memphis are very blue but what about the rest of the state

Nashville and Memphis aren't very blue. They are just the only cities in Tennessee that lean democrat. Tennessee at large is deeply republican.

Tennessee has two Republican senators, a Republican governor, and all the electoral college votes went to Trump in 2016. I don't know how farmers can outvote the people in Nashville and Memphis, but they do.
