Cats are good for that and once had a small doggie that did that too.

This belongs in the pet section and not in politics.

Get a cat. Feed them ham sandwiches and hay.

Cats are good at killing mice, many will shy away from attacking a rat, but their scent normally keeps rats away.

12 gauge pump shotgun will do the job until a HUNGRY NOT FAT HUMAN FED cat is invented

My grandfather's rat terrier was a little killing machine. It's in their blood. You should see a rat terrier at work. Snap, shake, toss to the side. Dead rats with broken backs all over. And these rats were so big they were an actual threat to livestock.

Cats are probably the best for indoors, but only if you get the right type. Some cats are mousers and some cats are birders. Totally different hunting styles.

And then there are the cats that don't hunt at all. Cats learn from their mothers, so if the mother never hunted, her kittens probably won't either.

You can find videos of that very thing on youtube! Search on "rat terrier on farm" or some similar terms.

If all you want is pest control, get a cat....

If you want a pet that'll be a good companion, get a terrier...
