They can ask anything they want.

They start with the basics to determine if you meet the basic requirement of entry to Canada.

have a valid travel document, like a passportbe in good healthhave no criminal or immigration-related convictionsconvince an immigration officer that you have ties—such as a job, home, financial assets or family—that will take you back to your home countryconvince an immigration officer that you will leave Canada at the end of your visithave enough money for your stay

Similar to what is asked at every other Border Crossing

Mostly stuff like "what is the purpose of your visit" "how long are you staying for" "what do you have in the car" "any food?"

typically how long you will stay and what is the purpose of the trip. if you intend to work, you need additional visa. They may ask how much money you are bringing in. LEAVE ANY GUNS/DRUGS HOME.

  • They shouldn't ask you about your nationality. Your pass port is proof of your citizenship so you shouldn't be asked about that either.

They should ask for your a pass port. Or nexus license. I crossed the boarder with my husband to the US on business trips several times. Usually they ask how long you're going to be in the US / Canada and if it's for business or personal reasons. They can also ask you if you have any thing to declare when you're going home.

That depends...are you a citizen and resident of another nation visiting Canada or are you a Canadian citizen/resident returning to Canada after being abroad?

"What is your nationality, where are you coming from, where are you going, for how long, do you have anything on this list, may I see your passport..."

The only time they cut it short was the day after 9-11 where there was a ten mile tail back in the Canadian line. They checked for Canadian citizenship and just said "Welcome home."

Same as when you're crossing any other international border. Do you have anything to declare, are you carrying any fruits or vegetables, do you have any firearms, etc, etc.
