Why didn’t God allow the Protestant soldiers to destroy the Vatican during the sacking of Rome?

In 1527 at the height of the Protestant Reformation thousands of Protestant soldiers stormed Rome and attempted to take over the Vatican. The Protestant soldiers made their way to the Vatican steps with the Pope inside. Outnumbered three to one the Vatican Swiss guard made a final stand on the very steps of the Vatican, defeating the Protestant soldiers. Hundreds of Swiss guard loss their lives. The Catholic Church honors the Swiss guard every May 6th to commemorate their bravery.

Update:

Protestants came within feet of altering history forever

It matters not, since Italy is now flooded with Muslim rapefugees brought in by Communist sea captains.

Dear, are you really as ignorant as this question suggests?

The soldiers belonged to the Holy Roman Emperor, who was a Catholic.  Catholic Italian and Spanish troops participated in the Sack along with German Protestant troops.  This hadn't been a religious conflict, since there were Catholics on both sides. The soldiers were mutinying for lack of pay.

The Vatican is not part of Rome, it is a independent country, with it's own money and laws. God had little to do with it, the intend was to hurt Rome not the Church. many people think because the Vatican is in Italy that it is part of Italy; it is not. It is what is called a POSTAGE STAMP COUNTRY!  Besides no one in their right mind would want to take on the SWISS Guard or the Mafia: both protect the Vatican and the Pope!

In the 16th century, the Vatican was closely associated with Rome, and Rome was closely associated with Roman Catholicism. The distinction made today wasn't remotely as clear.

Because that is where the 2nd Beast of Revelation 13 is supposed to come from. His connection is with the West, who won't listen to the first beast without him.

Probably because, upon viewing the ferocity of the Swiss Guard, many of the Protestant combatants turn and ran.

Now you know why the Vatican has walls, to keep out the Protestants

  • God is not intervening in mans affairs at this time to allow the time to settle the issue of sovereignty raised in the garden of Eden by Satan. It's just the way it played out, not because God was protecting his church as you obviously think. Everyone will come to realize who his true worshippers are when He has all false religion destroyed soon.

The Roman Catholic Church has a function as the harlot riding the beast during the great tribulation.

    • Where did you learn about the harlot riding the beast? At "Take Your Child to Work Day"?
