If I fry up some fish cakes / fish patties, can I freeze them? And do I wrap them in foil or should I use a plastic bowl with a lid?

Yes, you can freeze the fish cakes. Wrap the fish cakes in a double layer of plastic film and then wrap in foil.

Yes, when they've been 'lightly fried', cool them, and put in a lidded tub with some cling film or parchment between the layers. Then they'll be fine frozen like that.

Once thawed, they can be 'finished' off by frying till golden / cooked.

You can freeze them, but don't wrap them in foil. You can use a container that is airtight or wrap it in a plastic bag.

I would wrap fried fish cakes in plastic then place in an airtight container.  If all you have is foil that is fine
