Is it typical for depression to get worse in a preteen after they switch to homebound instruction due to their problems? ?

Depression gets worse if it isn't treated properly. Medication alone will not help depression. Someone who is depressed needs weekly if not multi-weekly visists to a therapist. Therapy is a must in the treatment of depression as the person learns coping skills to help manage depression.
Someone who is depressed also needs to make sure they get outside and interact with others. This is true for someone in school or out of school. Fresh air is important and so is exercise such as walking around the neighborhood.
