Why are Latin America and Western Europe so good at football?

Because there are a lot of people playing there from a very young age. It doesn't take a lot of equipment or money to play. Also, it's the most popular sport; there isn't a lot of dilution from people going to other sports.

It’s the number one sport and therefore have a bigger pool of talent to chose from. Also like american football you have a lot of players from poor neighborhoods looking to make a lot of money.

It is the primary sport for most of the countries in those areas. That means the best athletes end up playing soccer. That is unlike the US where top athletes end up in football or basketball.
Also consider that soccer is a simple and cheap sport to play as a child regardless of how much money your family or city has.

They are pretty bad at football actually when you think about it. the only sport they really excel in is soccer.

It’s the most popular sport in the world. The Caribbean and Asia are good too.
