Why did Mookie Betts win Gold Glove over Aaron Judge?

Judge had a dWAR of 1.6 and Betts only had 1.1 in 48 more games. Yet somehow Judge took home the Wilson Defensive Player of the Year which takes into account both leagues. Is it just because Betts has won it the past 3 years that voters automatically assume he is the best?

Because Betts is way better. You are a prick. Reported!

  • As you said above Mookie Betts played more games. Aaron Judge was in and out of the line-up due to injuries. That's just the way it goes.

If they handed out awards for fugliest outfielders in the league then A-Ron would be a lock to win every year along with the 2 missing links who play for the Cardinals, Martinez and Ozuna.

But since this award is based upon ability Judge came up short. I mean, how many Gold Gloves has Lurch won? If you said zero, you'd be right.

Betts is a proven defensive whiz so that's why he won the award.

All those awards, every one, are mostly popularity contests. Don't get in a sweat trying to figure them out.

You answered your own question. Mookie played a lot more. He also has better range.
