It is simple. Costs are very low. MOST Russians have no house payment and do not rent. Many use extra money to build very elaborate homes and dachas. There are many Russians who travel to India, China, UAE, Thailand... anywhere there is a sea coast. They relax. Food can be equal to USA prices; or it can be a fraction. Flour, 67 cents a 5 pound measure. Loaf of good bread 25-30 cents. Beef, $3.13 for boneless, clean meat.

Internet with 200 or so channels, $6 a month. Smartphone service $4-6 a month. We bought in 2015, a new Nissan sedan, Almera, has air condition and automatic, $9200. A Russian sedan could be $4500 or so.

It is where you wish to live... often I would like to stay there and not return to the hassel and hate we so often encounter in USA.

In addition, consider a plumber to come repair a pipe... incoming cold water. $6-12 would cover the repair. A dentist would be (free at the state run clinic) would charge about $18-22 to fill a tooth or two, using high tech light cure restorative material. (filling material). $50 for parts and labor on a Russian car brake job. $100,000 for a 3 story house with detached, housed heated pool. And probably $20 a month to heat it...

some answers are laughable. Putin had 7 opponents- all are quite alive and well. The dead one had less support than the American Green Party... WHO??!? The Greens, that's who.

About $20,000 annually probably. Being a communist nation, there's a spirit of sharing and cooperation. Nevertheless, the economy is poor compared with Europe and America. Russians depend on free government services.

don't know, but most of them are at the poverty level while rich oligarchs and upper politicos live like kings. regardless, communism is not a friend of the people. there's little freedom, especially speech. if you speak out, you'll be sent to Siberia or you will be ended violently. Ask the last guy who campaigned against Putin. Oh, you can't. He's dead.
