In the U.K. & elsewhere in Europe, are manual laborers having to work for a lot less since Eastern Europeans compete with them now?

since Polish and other Eastern Europeans started coming over and taking over manual labor jobs and other jobs now too? have many small business owners had to severely cut the amounts they charge?

how so and what about other sectors?

Update:

how do British people feel about it? why this has happened?

Update 2:

and since when started?

As Farage pointed out - in circumstances where there is a glut of labour, the minimum wage swiftly becomes the maximum wage.

That is now the case in much of the country, in both manual and office jobs.

It's only because the employer offers the job at a lower rate of pay than most locals would accept.

Here in the netherlands , some people have lost their jobs, or were forced to retire early, because the company they worked for hired people from countries like Poland or Romania.  Jobs that require language-knowledge are not affected.

Of course, people from Poland or Romania need the money more than we cheeseheads who can fall back on social security do

This does not just affect manual labourers. When Hungary joined the EU their computer programmers were being paid about 10% of their Western European counterparts.
