Can you take a bike on any train?

Can you bring a bicycle onto a South Western Railway train. It’s not going anywhere near London.

Also, to anyone who has done it before, where do you put your bicycle during the train journey.

Many thanks

Yes you can - but be careful of times. They restrict it at peak times. There are usually designated areas for bikes.

Depends on the kind or bike, time of day and sometimes even between which stations. Folding bikes are generally universally accepted. Regular bicycles may be restricted to off-peak journeys.

Never travelled with a bike on a NW train, but several times on French, Spanish and other European trains. If there isn’t a dedicated storage space, they’ll simply have to go where there is the most room, usually just inside the doors to each carriage.

My friend tried to take his bike on this train and about 6 Trainmen beat him unconscious because bikes are against the rules.

This is very complicated and each train company has different rules for different trains and different times of day. Sometimes you have to book ahead by several days. Sometimes you can just turn up with a bike and buy a ticket.
