i think from 12 or 13? because adolescent term can starts around that ages, but it depends on individual. during adolescent term, children may want to be alone.

It depends on your country and what the laws are-

Here in Canada if your 10 years old and up, parents can legally leave their children home alone at night.

14/5/16. It really depends on their maturity, are they expected to look after any siblings etc

If they're old enough to move out and support themselves, they're old enough to spend the night home alone as well.

As young as 15 if they are mature and can be trusted.

That would depend entirely on how mature and reliable they are.

Can they or should they? Most teens I know are scared to be home alone. When my daughter was 17 and I had to be away, I paid two college girls to sleep at the house. My daughter liked having someone else there with her, and they had a great time together. I wasn't worried about her having parties, but that is a concern with a lot of teens.
