It  depends on why you go to japan. if you want to go to japan for a trip, a month is probably best because you can have enough time to hang out with your relatives in japan

Depends on your relatives and what you want out of the visit. Ideally you want to stay long enough to make the effort worthwhile, but not over stay your welcome.

If you're an American ,you can stay 90 days ...

Depends on the strength of your family bonds...plus where in Japan. Some areas have lots to see, others are in the middle of nowhere. No reason to keep staying there if you are bored out of your skull.

1 day if you like them. 6 months if you have the time and money and like them. (See an issue with your question here?)

Depends on the time you both have available, your relationship with the relatives etc

Are the relatives from 5 miles away? 500 miles? 5000?
