If the southern strategy didn't happen then why were the democrats back then so similar to the GOP today?
Old, white, southern, anti-gay, VERY Christian, anti-liberal, pro-gun, loves communist witch hunts, etc?

The civil rights movement raised the conscience of millions of Americans and made them realize that racism was wrong.
Baby Boomers in the South raised by their racist parents rejected racism.
There was never a party switch.
That is an excuse Democrats use to avoid taking responsibility for their racist past.

That is the bible belt and Republicans have convinced them that God likes them better than others. So to gain their vote they come out against something everyone is against. Like abortion or gays. But they are immoral and commit adultery, gamble and drink. But the Evangelists tell them the Republicans are Christian so they gain their vote.

Was FDR a conservative?
Was Truman a conservative?
Both parties were majority white since 98% of the country was white.
Democrats were against guns dating back to the 19th century.
No one was even thinking about gay rights at the time.
Both parties were filled with Christians since pretty much everyone in the country was a Christian.
Democrats were not anti-liberal unless you count classical liberalism, which of course you're not.
That last one is just too dumb considering the current partisan attempt to remove the president.

Democrats of that day were conservatives, and anybody would have died laughing if anybody said otherwise. They were divided by north and south, and in no way by liberals vs conservative. These are simple facts, but Fox News brain damaged have had their memories wiped clean by the lying propagandists there.
