how do I say in Japanese how much is that watch?

    Sono tokei wa ikura desu ka

    That watch [topic marker] how-much is [question marker] -- in normal politeness.

    sono = that, when the object is far from the speaker and near the listener

    ano = that, when the object if far from both.

    If the object etc is not present, then ano is used to refer to something both the speaker and the listener have some knowledge about. sono is used when one of them knows nothing about it.
