Life expectancy for 55 year old with stage 4 prostate cancer?

My dad is turning 55 in 2 days. He was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer earlier this year and was told it spread to his bones. He’s currently undergoing chemotherapy and hormone treatments. I’ve read about statistics and survival rates but I’m hoping that may not be the case since he’s rather young. Any insight or advice would be appreciated.

About 28% of patients with distant prostate cancers (which have metastasized to other sites in the body) will survive 5 years or more. Stage 4 cancer is generally terminal.

Not much, but Alex Trebec is still alive and kicking.
