Is Australia on only $70 AUD per day considered to be a shoestring budget?

Would any travellers attempt this.

Considering that hotels aren't going out of business and most of their rooms are way over $70 a night, you'd have to think the means of most travellers would be beyond $70 a day.

That is a backpackers budget, if you want to sleep in a hostel and travel by public transport you could easily have a great holiday in Australia on $70 per day.

When have you seen backpackers dining at a restaurant and drinking champagne, you only need to have a smart phone to look up where the best bargains are.
