Canada election results are in. When will the Queen decide who she will now ask to be the PM of the Canadian part of her kingdom ?

Since the Prime Minister of the Canadian part of Her Majesty’s Commonwealth serves at the invitation of Her Majesty the Queen, when will she decide who to ask to be the PM of the newly-elected Canadian Parliament, and from which palace or castle in the UK will she make the announcement?

You are not clearly educated are you?

The queen does NOT choose who the prime minister of Canada is, that would be up to the voters, and like it or not, Justin Trudeau was chosen to be Canada's prime minister. The only thing the queen has a say in is appointing the governor general, that's it.

  • The next step down from the Queen is the governor general, not the PM. The Queen has nothing to do with Canada's elections. Being a democratic country allows people to decide whom they want as their PM or leader. Also Canada has been on it's own for a long time.

Only a ceremonial formality by the Queen's representative, Governor General Julie Payette. No Queen needed.

Under the system Canada uses in their federal elections, Justin Trudeau and the Canadian Liberals have won the election. He will remain Prime Minister if he can form a government, probably by forming a temporary coalition with one of the minor parties.

Cough - the situation in Canada, with the Queen as Head of State, is no different to how it is in the UK. The PM, elected first by his/her peers to be the Leader of his/her Party, would have to be the Leader of the ELECTED Party in a General Election. That winning Leader would the go to whoever is representing the Queen in Canada at the time, for permission to form a Government. She, the Queen, doesn't choose who to ask that. And it would take place at the official home of the Governor General in Canada.

No, it doesn't. While there are customs that are generally followed, the actual decision is up to the Crown.

That will be up to Julie Payette, the Governor General at Rideau Hall.
