Elizabeth Warren says withholding aid to Israel is ‘on the table’ to curb illegal settlement expansion. Thoughts?

How can a leading democratic party candidate make such a bold statement about Israel ? Will this affect her presidential nomination?

"Top Democratic presidential contender says Jerusalem’s policies are moving it away from a two-state solution

Even a large percentage of Israelis would agree with that. I have some 80+ relatives in that county and almost all of them under the age of 50 are appalled by these settlements.

    My response:

People are entitled to express their views, and within the U.S. Democratic Party criticizing Israel is consistent with that Party's apparent sympathizes with the “Palestinian” Arab intention to destroy Israel and expel the Jewish People from it and also that Party's failure to recognize Jewish roots in the Jews ancestral homeland of Israel / Judah.

The whole rationale of alleged “illegality” in relation to Israeli home-building / “settlements” is illogical and should not be accepted on its face value. Since the “Palestinian” Arabs arrived after the Jews, this makes the Arabs the settler-colonists.

Only in regard to Israel, would people use the term illegal “settlements” to describe a sovereign nation building homes not only on its own land, but in Israel’s case, that land also being within Area C of the West Bank where home-building (aka “settlements”) is permitted under the Oslo Accords (see further below), to which the Palestinians agreed.

The matter becomes both accurate and clear when correct terms are applied:

    > “Israelis” (NOT Israeli “settlers”) (being either: Jews whose ancestors have unbroken-presence in their ancestral-homeland of Israel, or Jewish returnee-exiles).

    > “Israeli-homes” (NOT Israeli “settlements”).

    Israeli “settlers” are either:

    > Jews whose ancestors have unbroken-presence in their ancestral-homeland of Israel.

    > Jewish-exiles returned to their ancestral-homeland of Israel, who have Judean heritage.

(The clue is in the name: “Jew” refers to the citizens of “Judah” (aka “Judea”) / Israel.)

The West Bank is land of previous Jewish kingdoms (see further below)!

Jews “Re-settling” their ancestral homeland are therefore “Returnees”.

There has never been a sovereign state of “Palestine” upon which the “Palestinian” Arabs could base any claim to any part of the land of Israel.

Following the Ottoman Turkish defeat in the First World War, the League of Nations in 1921 resurrecting the name “Palestine” from Roman occupation, authorized a British Mandate, whose inhabitants were known as:

“Palestinian Jews” / “Palestinian Arabs”. An administrative region, NOT a sovereign state, it was an area that later would be today’s:

Jordan, Israel, and the Palestinian Territories - Please compare the second and third maps down, at:

The prior Ottoman Turkish empire did not use any such political term as “Palestine”, but rather Ottoman-occupied Judea / Israel was within the Ottoman province of “Syria”:

The “Palestinian” Arabs falsely-allege Israeli Jews all came from Europe. Some Jews are returnee-exiles, since the Jewish People have Judean heritage. Yet the Jewish People are indigenous to their ancestral homeland of Israel, with unbroken presence there from Biblical times:

All the Israeli home-building / “settlements” are on land of the former Jewish Kingdoms of Israel / Judea; examples:

Post-Biblical history records the Jewish Hasmonean Kingdom of Judah:

Map of Jewish Hasmonean Kingdom of Judah (aka Judea) including the WEST BANK, Gaza, and Golan Heights, with its capital of (what is now EAST) Jerusalem / “Old City”.

    Between 110 BCE / 754 BH and 63 BCE / 706 BH:

Those not accepting the Bible for religious belief, should accept its historical information in the absence of objective-proof to the contrary.

Map Jewish Kingdom of Israel-Samaria, incl. part WEST BANK, and Golan Heights, capital Samaria,

    between 930 BCE / 1599 BH and 720 BCE / 1383 BH:

Map Jewish Kingdom of Judah, incl. part WEST BANK, capital of (what is now EAST) Jerusalem / “Old City”,

    between 930 BCE / 1599 BH and 586 BCE / 1244 BH.

    (See previous source.)

Jewish Kingdom of Israel - United, incl. WEST BANK, Gaza, and Golan Heights, capital of (what is now EAST) Jerusalem / “Old City”,

    between 1050 BCE / 1723 BH and 930 BCE / 1599 BH.

Therefore just as Israel / the Jewish People logically cannot:

    or “steal”,

    or “illegally-occupy”,

    or “be a colony on”,

    its OWN ancestral homeland,

it also cannot logically “illegally-settle” its OWN ancestral homeland.

From where did “Palestine” as a name imposed on the land of Israel, come?

The Romans imposed the term “Palæstina” (“Palestine”) on Roman-occupied Judea / Israel, resurrecting the term from the then defunct much smaller region of “Philistia” (approx. today’s Gaza till Jaffa), within which the Philistines had their five city kingdoms.

The “Palestinian” Arabs have no connection with the ancient Philistines.

The “Palestinian” Arabs may come from those who invaded and occupied the Jewish land of Judea / Israel. However, it is also unclear at what point they arrived there, since they were opposed to being called a “People” until the 1960’s, when they decided it fitted with their intention to steal the land from its indigenous Jews:

Israel was Re-established in 1948 following a United Nations Partition Plan (attempt at a two-state solution), was accepted by the then Palestinian Jews. The “Palestinian” Arabs in 1947 started a civil war to oppose the U.N. Partition Plan, instead take ALL the land of Israel, and expel or murder the Jews.

In 1948 the Arab countries also attacked the newly Re-established State of Israel, but the Arabs lost the war. Jordan then illegally-occupied the West Bank, and also illegally-occupied East Jerusalem from which the Jordanians expelled the Jews. Egypt illegally-occupied the Gaza strip. Neither country offered these areas to the Palestinians.

(Please see the sources which I have put into the “Sources” area of this answer.)

The United Nations and its structures have for many years been dominated by a block-vote of up to 56 Arab and additional Islamic-aligned countries (e.g. U.N. member states that are also members of the “Organization of Islamic Cooperation”), plus the influence of Arab oil money; compared to Israel being just one country. Thus, both the U.N and European Union falsely-treat the Jewish People as “invaders”, so also as “thieves” and “illegal-occupiers” of the Jews OWN land (all areas of prior Jewish kingdoms), of building “illegal-settlements”, with Palestinian terrorism regarded as: “resistance to occupation”.

The following is how the Palestinians obtained part of the West Bank (40%) and the whole of Gaza:

In 1967 Israel gained control of the West Bank and Gaza Strip (from the previous Jordanian and Egyptian illegal-occupation respectively) and as an attempt by Israel at “land for peace” under the Oslo Accords, Israel later granted the Palestinians autonomy anticipating a peace treaty, until when the land remains Israel’s.

The Oslo II Accord covers both Gaza and the West Bank.

The Oslo Accords divided the West Bank into three administrative divisions:

    Areas A, B and C:

Area A is exclusively administered by the Palestinian Authority aka Fatah, and is approximately 18% of the West Bank.

Area B (Palestinian civil control and joint Israeli-Palestinian security control), is administered by both the Palestinian Authority and Israel, and is approximately 22% of the West Bank.

Area C (full Israeli civil and security control), which contains the Israeli settlements, is administered by Israel:

How did the Palestinians breach the terms of the Accords?

By failing to: Quote: “[...] prevent acts of terrorism crime and hostilities [...]” (Article XV).

    This is quite clear because:

    1) The Palestinian Authority aka Fatah lost control of Gaza to Hamas, which fires numerous barrages of rockets at Israeli cities:

    2) The “Palestinian Authority” aka Fatah (funded by the “European Union”) and the “Palestinian Liberation Organization” by Palestinian Law, pay a reward-“pension” for the murder of Israeli Jewish civilians including children (see further below).

Once the “Palestinian” Arabs had tricked Israel into giving them autonomy of part of the West Bank and the whole of Gaza under the Oslo Accords, the Palestinians since:

    > Do not sincerely negotiate a peace treaty,

    > falsely-claim ALL of Israel,

    > attack Israeli Jewish civilians as policy including children (see below).

No wonder anti-Semites display such emotional-support for the Palestinians!

“The Palestinian Authority Martyrs Fund is a fund operated by the Palestinian Authority for the purpose of paying a monthly cash stipend to the families of Palestinians killed, injured or imprisoned for involvement in attacking, assisting in attacking, or planning to attack Israel [...]”

Here is an example result from the Palestinian on-going anti-Jewish hate-war:

Israeli girl, Hallel Yaffa Ariel, aged 13, fatally stabbed in her bedroom in West Bank by a Palestinian terrorist, June 30, 2016, The Guardian:

    I hope this helps.

Thats a very gutsy comment to make. I dont think the U.S. should keep interfering with foreign internal policies. She should be that open about everything domestic. Thats why people like Trump. He is candid and direct and includes the public in his rallies when talking about D.C.

I agree with her. And agreed with this way before Warren.

The Israelis want an independent country by slaughtering the Palestinians.

They should be sharing as they're ALL Abrahams descendants. The land belongs to both.

Foreign countries seeking American government aide? 🥴 Should be fair all around the board. That is the Democrat way.

It is common practice that when one party refuses to honor their part of negotiated deals, the other party stops paying them money.

I doubt this decision will affect her presidential nomination much at all.

Jewish people may have been the primary victims of the Holocaust, but that doesn't mean they have the right to commit their own ethnic cleansing as well.

Even if she didn't say it, this is totally appropriate. No nation is above international norms, and should be held accountable for any and all wrongdoings.
