Just drove past a bunch of Cleveland machine shops... ALL with help wanted signs and 55hr work weeks! What happened to the Trump recession?

Machine trades are one of the US leading economic indicators! Kudos to Pres Trump for turning around Obama's

That a job may be available and that taking that job would be in a job seeker's best interest are very different things. Perhaps you are quite young and not aware that the the decision whether or not to accept any job is based on many factors, factors like

    pay rate, benefits, working conditions

    hours and schedule

time and cost of commuting to and from work

time and cost of appropriate clothes, equipment, tools

time of cost of required continuing education and credentialling

    chance for advancement

Do you suppose that poor people lack the math skills to determine whether or not potential earnings are sufficient to make it worthwhile to invest in transportation, child care, work clothes, worthwhile to be away from your kids most of the time? Why would anyone give up RAISING their children for the sake of a job that doesn't SUPPORT those children?

WTH does a n HS diploma have to do with "what with the cost of child care and the cost of transportation and all the other problems and expense involved, this job isn't worth taking" ???

Actually, I am an 80 year old retired intermediate inner-city teacher, and an all-around skiled machinist when I was a young man.

It sounds like you need to help those in your post to climb the career education ladder, or if that means achieving a high school diploma, first......start with that!

It's hard to get people to work 55 hour weeks in a 40 hour a week world.

Jobs and "Help Wanted" signs are everywhere in Miami. The help wanted section of the Miami Herald went from two half columns under Obama. too four FULL pages under Trump.

Jobs are booming where I live. Only corporate liberal run places like Walmart's cut hours.
