Can I put red over black hair dye. ? My natural colour is brown but my hair is semi permanent black at the minute and I wanna go red using a permanent hair dye

No, not without first removing or "stripping" the dye that is already in your hair.  IF you want a pure red, you might even need to bleach your hair to remove all color before re-dyeing.  All of this causes damage.

No, the only thing that will turn red is your roots. You need a dye stripper (they cost just a little more than a dye.) I actually liked the colour after I'd stripped mine and kept it for a few weeks before dying it again.

It will go orange. My grandson did it. Not a good look.
