Hi. There was an entire series of commercials about this same topic back in the 90's ...

You may have seen them on some of those commercials flashback shows :

       1st guy : "Tastes great"

       2nd guy : "Less filling"

       1st guy : "Tastes great"

       2nd guy : "Less filling"

It truly does depend on whether Yo like doing one more than the other, but if You're deciding from a money end on day one of choosing a future path ...

Keep in mind that a Web developer doesn't just write software that works on all computers they also have to make it compliant (Plays well) with the networking platform it runs through / over / on.

That not only means more time & school & a longer set of certifications, but dealing with extremely hardheaded bosses who are stuck to what they've been using for decades as a server most of the time, because changing platforms is extremely cost-consuming & requires re-training the entire staff..

They are BOTH programming. Web development tools tend to automate things for certain approaches of web based issues. No reason you can't do BOTH. The tend to compliment each other.

Well, web-development is increasing automated. And a good coder can probably also do decent web development. So I'd say CS is better.
