Why is it that when you’re driving and looking for an address, you turn down the volume on the radio?

    I don't know, but last night when I was in the auto parts store's parking lot, some woman was trying to use fix-a-flat on her car, and she told the bum with the shopping cart and the radio to turn it down, because she was trying to read the instructions.

    Because your brain needs to process what your eyes are seeing and loud music can affect that.

    There is limit to how much information we can process at the same time. By turning down the radio, we liberate more processing power for finding the address we are looking for while reducing distractions.
