m₁m₂ = (Fr²)/G

m₁m₂ = [(9.40 x 10⁻⁹)*(0.197)²]/(6.67 x 10⁻¹¹) = 5.47 Kg

m₁ = 5.47/m₂ ...(1)

Given m₁+m₂ = 5.03

plug in m₁ from (1)

5.47/m₂ + m₂ = 5.03

5.47 + m₂² = 5.03m₂

5.47 + 100m₂² = 503m₂

100m₂² - 503m₂ + 547 = 0

m₂ = [-(-503)±√(-503)²-4(100)(547)]/(2*100) = 3.44 or 1.59

If m₂ = 3.44 kg then m₁ = 1.59 kg

if m₂ = 1.59 kg then m₁ = 3.44 kg

So the 2 masses are 1.59 kg and 3.44 kg
