How do people gain resistance to alchohol?

My friend recently told me that when people drink alcohol at young ages they slowly get used to it

To resist it... Just Say No.   :)

The more alcohol you drink, the weaker your liver becomes until the smallest level of alcohol you can no longer metabolize and you die in great pain. Science is better than guessing.   The human body does not become resistant to alcohol.

Persistence. Alcoholics are, like, the most determined people ever. That's why they almost never have a job; they're simply to powerfull

By spending more time on a substance, including alcohol, a person becomes accustomed to performing tasks under the influence. They do not gain a resistance, they will still fail blood/breath tests.

It isn't necessarily resistance but rather experience.

For many people getting falling down, throwing up drunk is a learning experience. They do it once or twice and decide that isn't really fun and stop drinking before getting that way.

Many adults learn to control their drinking which developing a recognition of their limits with regard to alcohol.

It is more tolerance than resistance.
