Do I need a 5G phone to pilot a quad-copter drone?

And if I do, do I require a data plan of some sort to utilize it or will the phone and its WiFi capabilities be enough to function as a remote?

Update 2:

Safely. To operate it safely. Everything I've read about it indicates the 4G can have a hard time keeping the GPS connected which can cause all sorts of errors if it loses connection mid-flight. What't the safest to operate your drone with? 4 or 5G? And if 5G, do I need a data plan for it to function?

5G is still in its infancy, so it would surprise me greatly that someone had developed a quad that required 5G to operate it.
