Betta fish ate plant gel?

I went to pet co and bought him 4 of those plants that naturally filter the water, and when I was feeding him, it was close to some of the gel that broke off and floated up. It looked like he ate a piece as small as his pellets, but I'm not 100 percent certain he ate it at all. Hes picky if I give him old food, he will spit it out. Hes a very spoiled fish, hes living in a 10 gallon with 3 bottom feeders and a bubbler and a filter and plants. I love the little guy and I just want to know if he ate it, would he be okay?

I doubt your fish ate it because he can tell that it’s not food by the taste.

If he ate it, he would probably asphyxiates. I don’t think he’s big enough to swallow it completely so it’ll get stuck in his airway.
