Can you kill a deer with a bow and arrow or crossbow with a head shot?

Could you use a field point to go through the skull of a deer and kill it? It would be great for taking deer without anyone hearing or knowing.

You guys are all very stupid and don't know what your talking about. A head shot kills anything instantly. I don't want to hear from you inexperienced fools.

No, it will not cause the bleeding and tissue damage a broad head causes.

Well as you will in 99.9% of cases fail to kill the deer out right which will leave it running around with your arrow through is head.

And a bow is not completely silent so more than likely during hunting season somebody will witness your vile cruel act and report it1

Hunting season is one of the most dangerous times of the year. The fall time should be nice, and we deer shouldn’t have to worry about being hurt.

Source(s): The first day of hurting is cyber Monday. People that are normal will spend their day off buying tons of stuff.

Many states have a bow hunting season - learn the rules in your area.

Any attempt to do so would be cruel and inhumane. A head shot by a skilled shooter, with a supported and properly zeroed rifle is hard enough. The skull of a deer is a very small target, especially if you are trying for brain/spinal shot. Additionally the movement of the head (on top of the body it is attached to), make it impossible to guarantee a high probability kill shot, even by the most expert bowman. It is far more likely such an attempt would result in wounding the animal if not an outright miss. Such a wounding would likely cause pain and suffering, potentially over a very long period of time, including severe damage to jaw and nasal passages or simply an infections that take the animal over days and weeks.

Quite possible. But why risk a head shot where a heart lung shot is a bigger target and just as leathel as a head shot. Plus it still is quiet.

    Depends on the trajectory

    And, yes, it is possible.

Yes. But you have to get real close.
