    140 cows and 28 horses. I solve that in my head.

    1/6th would be horses, so divide by six.

    5X + X = 168

    6X = 168

    6X/6 = 168/6 = 28

    X = 28 (Horses)

    5X = 140 (Cows)

    Divide 168 by 6

    Let x be the number of horses. The number of cows is 5 * x.

    6 * x = 168

    x = 168 ÷ 6 = 28

    The number of cows is 5 * 28 = 140.
