some parts of our planet will be rendered uninhabitable for decades, so the regions that are still habitable will be over-populated.

there will be many survivors but they will live in very harsh conditions and die early of diseases and famine.

wellllllll, of course it's possible to may not be anywhere near a drop zone, so you will survive the intial blasts.........but then all manner of problems will arise, no matter where you are.

Nuclear winter for one, blocking out the sun and Killing all plant life.

The major disruption to the food chain supply.........and massive cities in RUINS. Diseases and poisoned water supplies and what not...........

as they say, you might survive.....but the living will envy the dead.

    of course it is

in nagasaki, there was a survivor who was only 100 meter from ground zero

even in a full scale nuclear war, most people will survive the nuclear exchange

there have been over 1000 nuclear weapons detonated above ground since 1941, were all still here, aren't we?

I think if we have a full scale nuclear war we will have a massive nuclear winter. If someone has food for 2-3 years AND the ability to start growing food immediately after the winter is over, they might survive. But for most Americans, I do not think it will be possible.

Depends on how extensive it is.

If the blasts don't kill everyone, the fallout will kill the survivors slowly and painfully. Not to mention the nuclear winter that'll make it impossible to grow crops.

Easily thanks to tests and research done during the Cold War in the Nevada Test Site and elsewhere around the planet.

Sure, depending on duration, location and number of atomic weapons used. People have been living in Hiroshima and Nagasaki for decades.
