I am not diabetic however I was in the ER because I was not feeling well?

My ketones in my urine was 80mg my sugar was 86. Why would my ketones be so high? I wasn't treated at the hospital for it. Just sent home.

Update:

I have been going through a very traumatic situation in my life right now and under massive amounts of stress . lately I do go a day or two without eating a full meal because I just forget. my body isn't hungry. I drink plenty of fluids and I'm more thirsty than hungry.

if you were not eating well, your ketones rise, its not a marker of diabetes per se. Any time your diet is lacking you burn fats and hence have ketones (the basis of the keto diet in fact)

Have you been dieting severely? That would raise your ketones.

Malnutrition or starvation and the hospital should have done something about it

If the hospital didn't say how would we know?
