Most Kurds are Muslims. And yes, there are Muslims who are allies of USA and NATO. Saudi Arabia and Kuwait are some of the closest allies to USA. During the Gulf War, Kuwait was invaded by Iraq and Iraq set a line of tanks near the Saudi border. USA rescued Kuwait and prevented Iraq from invading Saudi.

Americans heavily depend on Saudi oil. Most Americans rely on cars for their daily life and this means USA consumes a lot of fuel. Infact, USA is the largest consumer of fuel in the world. Even if USA's oil production is one of the highest in the world, it's still not enough to sustain the needs of the people. Because of this, the price for oil is extremely important. By being a close ally to Saudi, USA can get a relatively good price for oil from Saudi.

To give you a perspective of how important this is, in the 70s, Saudi decided to raise the price of oil to USA as a punishment of USA's support for Israel during a war between Israel and Arab countries. As the result, USA and its allies suffered economic crisis.

Kurds are an ethnic group, not a religious group. Most Kurds are Muslim but there are also Christians, Yazidis and even some Zoroastrians.
