How could I tell the difference between Flour and Corn Starch?
My mom has 2 big jars full of white powder, with no labels. She isn't here and I need to use flour to bake a bake.

corn starch feels different. Put a small amount in a cup, add water, stir well and wait. the corn starch will drop to the bottom of the water and feel almost solid. Flour doesn't do that.

The corn starch will be a much finer texture, and will not clump when you pour it out of a scoop.

Cornflour is 'whiter' and finer than Flour.

Cornstarch is finer, lighter, and whiter. Dab a bit on your finger and taste it--it's really chalky. Flour smells like wheat and tastes like, well flour.

Typically corn starch does not come in big packages. Flour and Sugar do though. Surely you can taste the difference between flour and sugar. Taste a tiny spoonful. Even the texture is difference. Or ask a neighbor.
