Is it rude to tell someone "take your stories and put them in your pocket"?

    It's a misguided question, there aren't polite ways to package impolite messages. There's more words and less words, direct or indirect, but you can't convert rude to polite just by rephrasing "shut up"

    A bit of context would - AS USUAL - be helpful.

    It could be construed as a mild joke; it might be incredibly offensive. We don't know, because we don't know the CONTEXT.

    That's a pretty rude way to say, "That's interesting, but I really have to rush – I have another commitment."

    Ultimately, this comes down to personal choice. The person making the comment is not responsible for how it may be interpreted/understood.
