Libraries are supposed to be non partisan and house a broad range of viewpoints, including materials that are racist now. How can you prove a society was or is racist without the documents? How can you think for yourself critically and sort true from false news if only the official view is presented?

You write an essay, article or book showing how that book "makes fun of your race" and you have it published. Sites like Amazon encourage review of the books they sell. If you blog or social media, post your views. Write an argument to the principal, the librarian and the school board to flag the book as racist. Write to the author and publisher of the book. Democracies don't burn books. They discuss what is inside them

tell the librarian and contact the author/publisher. if their displaying it at bookstores (like a big display) tell them too. make sure they know that ur pissed off

I would complain to the librarian.

And would get in contact with the author to discuss that.

Well, what if it did? Books are supposed to help you think. You can't attack something if you don't know what its supporters actually say or claim.

Suppose a book contains silly racial stereotypes. It's absolutely ESSENTIAL for people in the 21st century to see what USED to be acceptable, so that we can understand how much progress we have actually made since then.

All my son's history text books claim his race is evil and oppressive.

If you are quite certain of this then complain to his school and suggest they use less biased historians.

Realize that you do not have the right NOT to be offended and buy your library a book that points out the qualities of your race. Educated them.

Don't read it. If it bothers you then perhaps you could speak to the librarian about it.

I doubt that there are lots of books that "make fun of" someone's race, even though many older books (especially those from the 19th century or earlier) being products of their times contain stereotypes that (hopefully) wouldn't pass an editor in our times.

As for these books "making you angry" - well, life is not a bowl of cherries. If you get angry because a library has a book whose contents you don't like, you're in for a lots of angry moments in life.

To put it bluntly, it's advisable you grow a thicker skin.

Talking about skin, you might want to do some research into "race". What you'll find is that "race" is a concept which is not backed up by modern science. Once you have understood this, you might become less concerned with ignorant viewpoints, whether voiced by certain people or found in books.
