Why do we have to pay for wifi?

No seriously, if you buy a house that's previously had wifi, does it not already have the necessary wiring you could just plug a router into?? i hope someone has a stupid simple answer for this that i'm overlooking.

I'm guessing you grew up after the internet became popular.

We pay for internet so they can afford to feed all the hamsters that run on their wheels to power the servers/routers circuits.

Yet another choosing beggar. Look, could you please do everyone a favor, shut your mouth, and pay your Wi-Fi bill like everyone else?

Someone has to pay all the tiny fairy people forced to have tiny orgasms all day long! We can’t *** **** them for nothing!

You must provide your own modem and router. Most modern routers are wi-fi

The Wi-Fi is free, it just comes with the router and service.

No ISP, you can still connect to a Wi-Fi router with password, just no internet.

Public libraries and a lot of eateries have free Wi-Fi.

    Denny's,,McDonald's and such.

It's a utility like your electric or gas.  If you don't sign up and pay for it you don't get it.

Because to have WiFi, you have to subscribe to some sort of internet service.
