    First of all, it's in the Sun so that makes it dubious. Besides that, I think he's a starchild - like trans people who identify as other than their birth-assigned gender, there are people who identify as aliens. His story expresses genuine and realistic concern about the way the human race is going, and he probably believes it, but I can only accept it on a symbolic level because of what I know about Mars. Then again, religious people often believe unsupportable things and the only difference here is that he alone has this set of beliefs. That's how I see him. A little patronising of me maybe.
