WHY is this question in AIRLINE TRAVEL ?
Depends on your mysterious location and definition of MIDDLE.
Do you say one third are lower one third are middle and one third upper?
Taking a look at US wage records shows that about one third make less than
$40,000 per year and one third make more than $90,000 year.
The Middle must be between those two numbers.
You divide it up however you want. Lower middle, middle middle, upper middle
About one half the MIDDLE make less than $60,000.
Some say the middle class should be up to $250,000 or more for tax purposes.95%
make less than that.
The wealthy can be EXTREMELY wealthy and it distorts AVERAGE salary.
Median gives a better method to compare.

Money and class are two very different things.
Money does not automatically mean you're classy.

50-60K is only middle class in areas of the country where the cost of housing is very low. Most middle class people in the US earn 70-150K at least.

Pew data concludes that a middle class four-person household would be in the range of $46,960 to $140,900 in income. But it depends, in part, on where you live -- because the cost of living varies.
