I'm changing networks from EE to O2 as I have a new phone but I want to unlock my old phone it's saying on EE it costs £8.99 & will take 72?

hours but if I'm leaving EE how can I do this as in 2 days I won't be with EE anymore

    It can take a couple of days to unlock the phone, but often they get it done within hours.  It is what it is.  That's what happens when you wait until the last minute to do something important.  Better get it started now.

    Ask EE for advice. It won’t be a new problem for them.

    You might be able to receive the code by some other means such as email.

    Then you find a phone store that will charge you less to unlock your phone and in less time, if these two issues are a problem.

    As I understand it, in the UK, you can change carrier anytime you wish, as long as you are paid up on your bill.

      Yep but my old phone is locked to a certain network I need to put another sim in it
