My Chili is too spicy (hot), how do I "cool" it off?

    You can try eating it with some sour cream or creme fraiche to cool it down a bit. If you're looking for something to add to take away some of the spice, there aren't a lot of options that won't change the texture, unless you have more beans, meat, veggies, etc to increase the size of the batch.

      Idiot. add oil instead. sour cream or any type of cream don't help. makes more spicy. i hope op burns tongue on with spice.

    Throw some carrots in. Leave them large so you can pull them out. I do this to take a bit out of my spicy spaghetti sauce.

    Anything milk based, yogurt, sour cream, etc.

    You can make chili less spicy, by adding some over rice, pasta, lettuce, etc

    Well, when curry is too hot, I add yogurt to it to cool it down, it does thicken it a little though.

    I assume it would work in chili ? Perhaps you could use sour cream?.

    Add a spoon of sour cream or plain yogurt to the bowl before you eat it.
