Is it fine to call the police in this situation?
One of my people got scammed on ebay.
What happened was that this person bought shoes for not a small amount of money. While he was reading about those shoes, he received shoes that were fake and not the same as described in the picture that he saw. Basically he got scammed.
Will the police do something serious about this situation?

your person needs to report this to his credit card company and the website where the scam was perpetrated. local police might take a report, but do not expect any action

The police CAN'T do more than inform you it is a CIVIL matter and they have no jurisdiction.

The police won't get involved. Your friend needs to file a claim with eBay and PayPal (eBay owns PayPal, so that should be easy). They almost always side with the buyer. I have had to do that a couple of times, but it was for small items like DVDs.

Customs track counterfit goods.
It doesn't seem to do em much good in the long run though.
They seem to pick up the same worm infested flesh which waffles vacuous and twisted in Anna ties.
