    Well, when our robot overlords take over and implant CPU chips in our skulls, we'll no longer need computer programmers because we'll be able to speak directly to the machines. In the meantime, we need programming in order to convert our human wishes into computer tasks.

    in order to control complex computing hardware (PC, mobile devices, and the internet infrastructure just to name a few examples) you need some way of communicating user input, these inputs are usually streamlined through set of instructions that are easy to deal with (operating systems) that require programing to programe.
